Who We Are

The Greenburgh Uniformed Firefighters' Association is a non-profit organization that represents the Professional Firefighters employed by the Fairview, Greenville and Hartsdale Fire Districts located in the Town of Greenburgh, New York.

Our members are appointed in their respective fire districts through the New York State Civil Service process administered by Westchester County.

In addition to being some of the most highly trained firefighters in New York State our members also possess a plethora of skills and backgrounds. Firefighters are often referred to as the jack-of-all-trades and our members are no exception. Our membership comes from all walks of life. Some members are extremely skilled in trades such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry etc. We have numerous members with military backgrounds bringing with them great leadership and problem solving experience. Other members come from strong emergency medical backgrounds working in busy EMS systems, including FDNY EMS. We have several members that began their career as police officers and decided to change paths to becoming a firefighter. Many of our members are highly educated holding bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a variety of fields. Our diverse backgrounds come together to create a well-rounded set of knowledge and skills that compliment our fire training in emergencies and day-to-day activities.
